The first game was drawn 1-1 with Coventry. Newman scored Norwich's goal whilst DAVE PHILLIPS netted for the Sky Blues
The second game saw the Canaries lose 3-1 to Leicester where yet again a former Canary scored for the opposition; this time in the form of TONY SPEARING. Norwich's goal came from Neil Adams.
The final game came against arch rivals Ipswich and finished 4-4 with Newman (2), Scott and Goss getting Norwich's goals.
These results meant Norwich finished bottom of their group and would not proceed to the final round of the tournament.
