Midfielder Finlay Barnes was part of Norwich's Under-16 team during 2016/17 but also played for the Under-18s, making his first appearance against Spurs on 8th April 2017.
He joined Dereham on loan at the end of the 2018/19 season.
On 9th May 2019, it was announced that he would be leaving Norwich when his contract ends, On 3rd August 2019, he signed for Norwich United.
He moved to Southern League Leiston in June 2020.
After scoring 11 goals in the 2022/23 season to take him to a tally of 35 goals in 117 games for Leiston, Finlay signed for Conference side York City on 4th July 2023.
On 25th August 2023 he joined Darlington of the National League North on a month's loan.
In March 2024 he was loaned to Scarborough for the remainder of the season.
After making six appearances for York, he was released at the end of the 2023/24 season and signed for Braintree on 13th June 2024.
He moved back to Norfolk signing for Kings Lynn Town on 29th August 2024.
