On 18th January 2022 Norwich City announced that they had hired Liam Bramley as their new first team coach. He had worked with Dean Smith at Aston Villa where Bramley was manager of the under-18s which won the FA Youth Cup in 2021 and whom Smith promoted to Elite Development Coach shortly before he left Villa. He had moved to Villa in July 2020.
He was an apprentice footballer at Rotherham but started coaching whilst studying at Northumbria University. He played for Team Northumbria as well as coaching the Team Northumbria Women's side. Whilst at University, he gained his UEFA A coaching license. On leaving College he was appointed the Head Coach at The Northumberland Football Partnership and in 2007 took up the role of Football Development Officer. In 2010 Liam was appointed as a Full Time Youth Coach at Newcastle United working with the Under 15s and 16s. He remained at Newcastle until July 2020 with his last tole being Under-23s Assistant Coach. He combined this with coaching and tutoring for the Football Association His playing career includes Northern League teams Consett, Bishop Auckland, and Brandon.
Speaking about the appointment of Bramley to his first-team staff, Smith said: “We’re delighted to welcome Liam to the football club. He is a young, up-and-coming coach and someone that both myself and Shakey [Craig Shakespeare] highlighted as a potential addition to our setup here. We were impressed with his qualities at Villa and are delighted to have such a progressive young coach join us here at Norwich,"
Bramley left Norwich on 27th December 2022 along with Dean Smith and Craig Shakespeare after City lost three games in four and lost the support and patience of the Norwich fans.
On 26th August 2024 he was appointed as coach of the England Under-18s
