It was announced in
October 2008 that central midfielder / full-back Richard Brindley
would be offered a scholarship with the Norwich City academy to
commence in the summer of 2009. Richard, from Norwich, joined
the Canaries at the age o f 9 and broke through into the youth
team in September 2009 scoring against Aston Villa after coming
on as substitute.

He was one of five players released on 17th May 2012. He then
signed for Chelmsford City in the summer of 2012
On 17th january 2012 Brindley signed for Chesterfield until the
end of the 2012/13 season.
On 23rd May 2013, Brindley signed a two year cotnract with Rotherham,
newly promoted to League One. He had played 12 times for Chesterfield.
Millers boss Steve Evans tsaid "We watched him at Chesterfield
on four occasions and we knew then that he was a top talent."
On 25th November 2014, Brindley joined Scunthorpe on loan until
January 2015. He had made three appearances for Rotherham in the
2014/15 season, including the trip to Norwich in September. He
made four appearances for Scunthorpe. Returning to Rotherham,
he was subsequently loaned out to Oxford on 29th January 2015.
He made three appearances for Oxford before returning to Rotherham
who loaned him to Colchester United on 26th March 2015 until the
end of the season. He played eight games for Colchester and made
his move permanent on 2dn June 2015 signing a two year contract. Unfortunately Colchester were relegated on April 23rd 2016.
Despite making 43 appearances in 2016/17, Brindley was released at the end of the season. He signed for Barnet on 10th July 2017. Barnet head coach Rossi Eames said: "It's a fantastic coup for the club as he's got vast experience. He was part of an excellent side at Colchester and he's going to bring athleticism, technical and tactical abilities to our back line."
After Barnet's relegation to the Conference in May 2018, Brindley left the club. On 25th September 2018, he signed for Bromley on a short term contract. He left Bromley at the end of the 2018/19 season. He had played 35 games for Bromley, scoring twice.
On 5th September 2019 Brindley signed for Notts County on a free transfer. He signed a new deal with them on 13th August 2020. Brindley came on as substitute in the National League play-off final against Chesterfield on 13th May 2023 which County won on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Brindley was released by the Magpies on 29th April 2024. He had played 148 games for them, scoring twice.
In June 2024 he was linked with moves to Colchester, Swindon and Bromley. He signed for National League side Eastleigh on 9th July 2024
