Former Norwich trainee Gary Butcher was part of the Clitheroe
team that contested the 1996 FA Vase final. In between Carrow
Road and Clitheroe, he has spent time also at Great Yarmouth,
Blackburn and Chorley. Gary later managed the Clitheroe side but
was sacked in October 1998. He has also worked as head coach for
the University of East Anglia, University of Central Lancashire
and for the Lancashire FA School of Excellence.
On 30th July 2000, the Non League Paper reported that "Great
Harwood coach Gary Butcher has left The Showground for a post at
Norwich City." - this is with the Academy Under-16 side. His return
to Norfolk saw him rejoin Great Yarmouth as a player but he has
since moved on to Acle United.
In the summer of 2007, Gary was appointed manager of Ridgeons
League side Norwich United. He was replaced by Paul Chick.
Along with Keith Webb, Butcher set up
Pro
Player Techniques coaching clinic in Norwich with the aim of
improving the quality of youth football in the East of England,
and to provide excellence in coaching and facilitating development
of young players.
