A midfielder from Hatfield, Rian Carroll joined Norwich City as an Under-13 in 2008. Asuccessful graduate of City’s Hatfield Development Centre, Rian is described a combative midfielder. .He played for Norwich City Under-14s in Overjise Tournament (August 2008) and for the Under-15s in victorious Eendracht Aalst Tournament in May 2010

On 31st March 2011, it was announced that he and eight others would join Norwich's Academy in the summer of 2011. Academy manager Ricky Martin said: “I would like to wish all nine boys the best of luck and hope they enjoy long and successful careers at Norwich City.”

Carroll was released by Norwich on 1st July 2013. He then joined non-league St Albans City, Colney Heath, Broxbourne and St Margaretsbury in his native Hertfordshire.

He returned to Norfolk in December 2017 signing for Norwich United. He returned south in 2018/19 signing for Cockfosters and then moved to Harpenden Town for the 2019/20 season
