On Thursday March 16th 2000, Teamtalk
reported that "Norwich City are taking a look at prolific non-league
goalscorer Andy Claydon, who has scored 22 for Jewson League side
Newmarket Town this season. Duncan Forbes watched the pacy 21
year old in action this week, and Claydon has been invited for
a trial next week. He will train with the rest of the senior squad
and will be given a reserve team run out in the clash with Brighton's
second string. Claydon said: "I am very excited. It's a great
opportunity for me. I thought my chance of getting a break had
gone." His boss Bobby Shinton calls Claydon "an uncut diamond"
and says that Norwich wanted to have him for a trial a month ago
but a slight injury delayed his chance to shine." However according
to commentators on the Unofficial
Norwich City messageboard, Andy had an unimpressive game for
the Reserves against Brighton and they would be surprised if he
had further outings with the Canaries.
Andy, who has also had a trial with Nottingham Forest, moved on
to East Anglian giants Sudbury in the summer of 2000. He remained
with Sudbury enjoying great success there, including five Eastern
Counties League Champions medals, three FA Vase Finals and helping
them into the Ryman League. He made 360 appearances scoring 160
goals.
In June 2007, Sudbury announced that Andy wouldn't be a first
choice player for the following season and would understand if
he wanted to leave.. and so he did, joining Mildenhall on a two
year contract. He moved to Felixstowe and Walton United in February
2008
In June 2009, Andrew signed for Norwich United.
