Biography

Former Monaco and Rangers manager Philippe Clement was appointed manager of Norwich City on 18th November 2025 on a three and a half year contract. The Belgian replaced Liam Manning with Norwich second from bottom of the Championship with nine points from 15 games and had lost all eight home matches in the league and cup this season.. Coach Stephan van der Heyden will be part of Clement's backroom team, with further appointments to follow.

.As a centre-back or defensive midfielder, Clement played in his native Belgium for Beerschot (1992-95) and Genk (1995-98) before joining Coventry City for 1998/99 season. Returning to Belgium, he joined Club Brugge where he played 333 games before finishing his career at Germinal Beerschot.

Clement played 38 times for Belgium including the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championships. His debut was as a substitute in a 2–2 friendly draw with Norway on 25th March 1998, and his only goal on 7th June 2003 was in a 2–2 draw with Bulgaria .

At the end of his playing career in the summer of 2011, Clement became head of Club Brugge's U21s. In 2012/13 he became assistant coach to their first team. He had spells as interim manager in November 2012 and September 2013. During his time at Club Brugge, they won three trophies including the Belgian Cup in 2015 and the Championship in 2016.

On 24th May 2017 he became manager of Waasland-Beveren before moving to Genk in November 2017, guiding his new team to the Belgian Cup final in his first season. The following season they won the Belgian league title. . .

In May 2019 he returned to Club Brugge as manager, winning the League Title in his first two seasons.After three seasons he joined Monaco on 3rd January 2022. He finished third in his first season but missed out on European qualification in his second season.

On 15h October 2023 he joined Rangers as manager where he remained until 23rd February 2025. He won the Scottish League Cup in 2023/24.

His first game in charge of Norwich was a 4-1 defeat at Birmingham on 22nd November 2025.
