19 year old Hitchin Town winger Josh Coley signed for Norwich on 25th July 2018 after impressing for the Under-23s in their pre-season tour of Germany. He signed a one year contract with the option of a further year.
Largely playing on the left wing, the former York winger was top scorer for loan club Baldock Town the previous season with 21 goals to help them seal promotion from Division One of the Spartans South Midlands League. He has also played for Histon and Arlesey. He will be part of Matt Gill's Under-23 development squad. There was interest from Sunderland and Southampton for his signature.
Coley signed a new one year deal with City on 20th February 2019. He finished the 2018/19 season with 20 appearances for the Development Squad.
On 21s June 2019, Coley joined Scottish Championship side Dunfermline on loan for the 2019/10 season. Dunfermline released a statement that read: "Josh can operate on both the right and left flank, and is also well regarded as a hard working team player. "We would like to thank Neil Adams and his colleagues at Norwich City, along with Josh's agent, for allowing him to come to East End Park, as the next stage of his football development."
Coley returned to Norwich on 7th January 2020 having made 11 appearances for the Pars but the last of these was in October 2019.
Coley departed Norwich by mutual consent on 7th February 2020. He had trials with Slough and St Albans before taking up non-football work and signed for non-league Stotford of the Spartan South Midlands League. Josh signed for National League side Maidenhead on 14th July 2020.
On 8th June 2021 Exeter signed Coley for an undisclosed fee after he had scored five goals in 37 games in the National League.City boss Matt Taylor said "Josh is a good attacking player and someone we've watched consistently throughout the last season,He has had a taste of a professional environment at Norwich, and in Scotland, and that will prepare him really well for what is next. He is someone who always wants to take the opportunity on. He is as quick with the ball as he is without it, and we also have a lot of time to improve certain aspects of his game."
After helping Exeter to promotion to Leauge One in 2021/22, he was loaned to Harrogate on 1st September 2022 on a season-long arrangement. He made 13 appearances scoring once.
On 30th June 2023 he joined Sutton United for an undisclosed fee.
Coley was in the Sutton side that drew 4-4 with MK Dons on 27th April 2024 which saw them relegated to the National League. He had played 48 games for Sutton in 2023/24, scoring three goals.
