On 7th June 2000, Norwich City announced that 24 year old Australian
centre-half Angelo Costanzo would be spending the pre-season on
trial at Carrow Road. Supposedly recommended by Ian
Crook, the Adelaide Force/City midfielder was thenon the brink
of breaking into the Australian national team. If Norwich opted
to sign him, they would not need a work permit as he holds an
Italian passport but they would face competition from Australian
giants Perth Glory and Marconi Stallions; both of whom have made
formal bids for his services. Angelo made his debut in Norwich
colours at Lowestoft, playing the second half of the pre-season
friendly that finished 4-0 to the Canaries. He then played all
90 minutes of the 9-0 thrashing of Jewson leaguers Dereham Town.
Angelo was released from his trial by the Canaries on 19th July
2000 and soon afterwards signed for Marconi. With whom he stayed
until 2004 before joining South Australia side Campbelltown. He
had begun his career in the South Australian league with Salisbury
in 1993 before joining Adelaide City in 1995. Angelo has won 6
caps for Australia, scoring once.
He is currently playing in the Hyudnai Australian A-League for
Adelaide United
