A youth team product, Mark played only 16 minutes for the Norwich
first team against Brighton in December 1982 when Steve Walford and Dave Watson
were both injured. He moved to Torquay United in July 1985 and
made 57 league appearances for them before returning to East Anglia
with Cambridge United in 1986. 51 appearances for the Abbey Stadium
side preceded a move into non-league football with Watton, Thetford
Town and Wroxham.
Although Mark announced that he no loner wanted to play for Wroxham
in the summer of 1999, announcements by Lowestoft that they had
appointed him player/coach were premature as Wroxham still hold
his signature and Mark has 2 years left on his contract with Wroxham.
The matter has been passed to the Football Association. The FA
ruled in Lowestoft's favour and Chic was registered in time to
play the FA Cup qualifying tie against Gorleston.
In the summer of 2003, Mark switched to local rivals Kirkley
and made his debut for them in the Ridgeons League Division One
clash with Thetford on 19th August 2003.
