Former Southend youngster Tom Davey trialled and played for Norwich
City's Under 19s in their 2-1 victory over Tottenham on 7th April
2001 and in the following draw with Ipswich. Tom was born in Harold
Wood on 14/01/83. In the summer of 2001, he joined Norwich's Academy
set-up as a final year scholar.
He left the Canaries in January 2002 and had trials with Cambridge
City and Stevenage, before joining Dr Martens side Chelmsford
City. He transferred to Ryman leaguers Heybridge Swifts in November
2002. In August 2004, he joined Tilbury.
Tom moved on to Redbridge in November 2004 making his debut on
20th November in a 3-2 win alongside fellow newboys Chris Wild
(ex-Leyton Orient), Shayne Mangodza and Ricky Dobson (ex-Spurs).
Redbridge's manager said "Tom Davey is very competitive,
good on the ball and works hard. At times I think the game was
a little bit quick for him but it is where he hasn't been playing,
but he's another fierce competitor who wants to win games."
