Lincoln City defender
Ben Dixon had a trial with Norwich City in the latter part of the
1995-96 season. He had impressed then Canaries manager Gary
Megson when Gary had a brief spell at Lincoln earlier that season.
Ben made one reserve team appearance at home to Bristol Rovers in
a 4-0 victory on 17th April 1996.
When Megson moved to Blackpool to become their manager he signed
Dixon in July 1996 for £50,000. The Blackpool website described
Ben as an England under-18 international who is a stylish left sided
player who can play on the wing or at full back. Ben was released
by Blackpool in the summer of 1998 after making only 18 appearances
for the Seasiders.
The January 1999 edition of Team Talk magazine informed its
readers that Unibond Northern League side Whitby Town had signed
Ben Dixon from Singapore's Woodlands Wellington club.
In August 2004, Ben left Whitby to sign for Gainsborough Trinity
but was released in October 2004 and joined Ossett Town. He moved
again in January 2005 to join Lincoln United. In July 2007, he followed
manager John Wilkinson to sign for Grantham Town
