Julian Edwards spent four years as a schoolboy with the Canaries
but turned down a YTS scheme offer. He sought his chances with
Charlton Athletic but Norwich's claim for compensation was too
high according to Edwards. City then offered him a six week trial
with the Canaries in September 1999, playing for the Under 19s
in their 4-0 defeat against Aston Villa in the FA Premier Academy
but he was not offered a contract.
After spells with Milwall and Leyton Orient, he joined Purfleet,
Julian joined Romford. After 3 goals in 7 starts, he was signed
at the beginning of December 2001 by Barry Town of the League
of Wales. He returned to Romford during the spring of 2001 with
Barry's manager Kenny Brown seeking
more experienced players for the forthcoming European campaign.
Julian joined Ford United, also of the Ryman League, in February
2003 but in April 2003, he signed for Clapton. He signed for St
Albans City in January 2004 but was released a week later. He later
played for Redbridge at the beginning of the 2004/5 season. Scoring
eight goals in seven starts for Redbridge makes it easy to udnerstand
why his manager Craig Edwards took Julian with him to Chelmsford
City in January 2005 along with Craig's son Craig, ex-Cambridge
United and Colchester striker Lloyd Opara, Djoumaint Sangare and
Richard Thomas. Julian signed a two-year contract with Chelmsford
but moved to Bishops Stortford in September 2005. At the end of
December 2005, Julian moved again joining Thurrock. After joining
Wealdstone in the summer of 2006, Julian signed for Aveley in October
2006.
He broke his fifth metarsal in March 2007 which curtailed that season's
campaign. He joined Ilford in the 2007 pre-season scoring seven
pre-season goals for them. He moved on to Witham Town in March 2008
