Welsh Under-21 midfielder Stephen Evans had trials with Norwich
and Cardiff City before being spotted at the latter by a scout
from Crystal Palace. He signed for Palace and made his debut in
February 1999 against Birmingham City. He ended the 2000/01 season
with a total of 6 appearances to his name. Missing most of the
2000/01 season theough injury, Stephen joined Swansea Cit on loan
to get match experience in November 2001. Torquay United also
showed an interest and submitted a £50,000 bid for Evans
Evans eventually left Palace on Transfer Deadline Day (28th March
2002), signing for Brentford on a free transfer.
In early May 2004, Stephen was released by Brentford. He joined
non-leaguers Woking in August 2004 after a successful trial.
Steve transferred to Crawley on 16th January 2007
He joined Llanelli on 11th January 2008, signing an 18month deal.
Evans had been limited to just half-a-dozen Blue Square Premier
appearances this season.
"He was keen to play regularly and was presented with
a great opportunity to continue his career at home,"
said Crawley assistant boss Paul Raynor.
