Nathan Ferguson spent time as a youth in the academies of Norwich and Dagenham & Redbridge. Whilst with Dagenham, he had loan spells at Chelmsford City, St Albans and Hastings United.
He dropped into non-league football in 2014/15 spending time with Billericay and Grays Athletic before joining Burton Albion after a successful trial in December 2015. A managerial change two days after his signing led to him not playing for the Brewers and he was loaned to Dartford in March 2016.
In July 2016 he transferred to Port Vale where he would make just one EFL Trophy appearance before being loaned to Southport. He left Vale in January 2017 and returned to non-league football playing for Bromley and Dulwich Hamlet.
He signed for Crawley in June 2019 and made 52 appearances, scoring 7 goals, before transferring to Southend on 29th January 2021. He scored on his debut for the Shrimpers the following day against his former club Port Vale.
Southend were relegated to the National League on 1st May 2021
Ferguson's contract with Southend was cancelled by mutual consent on 3rd February 2022. He had made 43 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
