Former Leyton Orient and Bolton defender Alex Finney played for Norwich's Under-18s in a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on 11th February 2017. He had made three appearances for Bolton's first team. He has also trialled with Leicester City and at the time of the trial was on the books of QPR whom he had joined in November 2016.

On 3rd August 2017 he was loaned to Maidstone which was extended to the end of the season. He finished the campaign as their Player of the Season and signed a two year contract with them in June 2018.

He signed for Aldershot on 21st December 2018 before moving to Ebbsfleet in July 2021.

On 23rd June 2023 he joined National League South side Eastbourne Borough
