Club Brugge forward Pierre Xavier Fonkeu joined Norwich on trial in the summer of 2017 playing in the Under 23's pre-season victory at Kings Lynn on 12th July 2017 before joining them on tour in Germany later that month
He was reported to have been interesting Stoke, Sunderland and Wolves.
He has been capped by Cameroon at Under-20 level.
Fonkeu finally completed his move to Norwich on 31st August 2017 (Transfer Deadline Day).
On 9th May 2019, it was announced that Fonkeu would be leaving Norwich when his contract end. He had missed much of the 2018/19 season due to injury.
On 27th June 2019, he signed for French side Racing Club de Lens and will play for their second string in the fourth tier of French football.
On February 14th 2020 he joined Bulgarian top flight side PFC Beroe Stara Zagora. He left them on 1st July 2020 having made two appearances.
In December 2020 he trained with League Two Grimsby who were keen to offer him a trial but were waiting for international clearance from the Bulgarian football authorities. Change of management at Grimsby ended this interest but Fonkeu instead signed for National League side Weymouth on 30th January 2021.
He was released by Weymouth at the end of the 2021/22 season. His next club was Hemel Hempstead Town whom he joined on 25th February 2022 and for whom he made 11 appearances, scoring twice. He moved to Dartford on 1st August 2022 and then to Oxford City on 14th July 2023 ahead of their National League campaign. Fonkeu's Oxford City were relegated from the National League on 24th March 2024 when they lost 2-1 to AFC Fylde although he wasn't in the squa as he had joined Hemel Hempstead on loan on 12th March 2024.
