On 9th August 2024 Norwich City completed the signing of 21 year old midfielder Amankwah Forson from Red Bull Salzburg for an undisclosed fee. He signed a four year deal with the club having an option of an additional year.
Forson began his career in Ghana with West African Football Academy (WAFA) making his professional debut in the Ghana Premier League on 12th December 2019. After 16 appearances, he moved to Red Bull Salzburg in February 2021 and was loaned to FC Liefering in the Austrian second tier. He played 29 games scoring six times. In June 2022 he joined Rheindorf Altach in the Austrian top flight playing 19 games and scoring three goals. He broke into the Red Bull first team in the 2023/24 season. he had played 41 games, including in the Champions League at the time of his move to Norwich scoring twice.
He made his international debut for Ghana on 22nd March 2024 in a friendly with Nigeria.
He made his Norwich debut as a half-time substitute in the 2-0 away defeat to Oxford United on 10th August 2024, the opening game of the 202425 Championship season. He made his first City start against Stevenage in the League Cup on 13th August 2024.
