Richard Garwood seemed to have a promising career ahead of him. A regular place in the centre of the Norwich City youth team's defence in the early 1980s led to international recognition with Richard captaining the England Schoolboys side. His contemporaries included Frances Benali (Southampton), Lee Martin (of Manchester United and Celtic fame) and Gareth Hall (Chelsea). As far as I can recall, injuries ended Richard's playing career. Can anyone confirm, expand or deny this ?

Richard later spent time with Peterborough United and Thetford Town.
