Scotland Under-19 midfielder Charlie Gilmour joined Norwich on 8th July 2019 following his release from Arsenal. He joined the Gunners aged 6 and progressed to making two first-team appearances in 2018/19, coming on as a late substitute during Europa League group stage wins over Ukrainian side Vorskla and Azerbaijani club Qarabag. He also made four appearances in the EFL Trophy for the Gunners' U21 side, scoring in a 6-2 defeat to Cheltenham Town and also facing the first teams of Coventry City, Forest Green Rovers and Portsmouth.
Gilmour represented England at U16 and U17 level but switched allegiances to Scotland - as he qualifies through his father - and has caps at U17 and U19 level for the Scots.
On 12th July 2019, it was reported in Holland that Gilmour would be joining Eerste Division side SC Telstar on a season long loan. The loan ended early on 24th April 2020 when the Dutch season was cancelled due to Coronavirus with the Dutch parliament cancelling all sporting events until September 2020. He played 25 games for Telstar, scoring three goals.
Gilmour departed Norwich on 19th October 2020 by mutual consent. He has been linked with Rangers but finally signed for St Johnstone on 1st February 2021 until the end of the season. ."It's an opportunity to play in a good league and obviously with my connection to Scotland being half-Scottish makes it an exciting move for me personally," he told St Johnstone's website.
On 30th September 2021 he was loaned to Alloa Athletic until January 2022.
He joined Scottish Championship side Cove Rangers on loan on August 16th 2022.
He was released by St Johnstone on 30th May 2023. He then signed for Inverness Caledonian Thistle on 20th June 2023.
