On 20th July 2023 various media sources reported news from Gideon Granstrom's father that Norwich and Sunderland had offered trials to the Sweden Under-18 midfielder who plays for the youth team of Djurgardens. He had previously played for Hammarby.

The teenager's father and agent, Robert Granstrom, informed Swedish outlet FotbollSTHLM about his son's 10-day trip to England. “He stays about ten days in total. They will be on this tour for a week, starting in Norwich then finishing with three days in Sunderland.”

He turns 18 in August 2023 and has seemingly been invited to England to earn himself the chance of a permanent move
