According to the Cambridge United programme for the match against
Brentford on 8th May, Daniel Huggins was awarded a contract with
the Cambridge United youth team. Daniel is from Great Yarmouth
and attended Cliff Park High School. He joined Cambridge's centre
of excellence at Christmas 1998 and United managed to persuade
him to sign a contract with them rather than with the Canaries
who were also very interested in securing his registration. Daniel
was given a one year extension to his contract in April 2000 as
a sign that Cambridge were pleased with his progress.
Daniel became a first year professional for the 2002/3 season
but was told in January 2003 that he would be released at the
end of the season. United would help him find a club, and he began
training with Cambridge City. It appears that he joined City but
was then loaned out to Mildenhall for the remainder of the 2002/03
season to remain match fit before returning to Cambridge City
in the summer to try and win a first team contract.
In the summer of 2003, he signed a one year contract with Mildenhall
who play in the Ridgeons League. In December 2004, he moved to
Arlesey Town of the Southern League.
