Left-back James Husband joined Norwich from Middlesbrough on 11th July 2017 on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee
He was born in Leeds and came through their Academy. he moved to Doncaster Rovers and signed a two-year scholarship terms in the summer of 2010. He signed his first professional contract in November 2011, on a 2 1⁄2-year deal, after reported interest from Premier League clubs. He made his first team debut on 17 April 2012, in a 0–0 draw with Middlesbrough, coming on as a second-half substitute and his first start four days later as Doncaster beat Coventry 2–0
On 26th July 2014 he joined Middlesbrough in a deal that saw Curtis Main and £500,000 head the other way. He had made 64 appearances for Doncaster.
He joined Fulham on loan on 25th March 2015 and then repeated the deal the following season.
Husband joined Huddersfield Town on an emergency loan on 8th January 2016. He made his début as a substitute in the 2–2 draw against Reading in the FA Cup 3rd round match. He would play 12 games for the Terriers before his spell ended on 9 April 2016.
Husband made his Norwich debut in the 1-1 draw away to Fulham on the opening day of the 2017/18 season (5th August 2017). He ended the season with 21 appearances having been replaced as first choice left-back by Jamal Lewis. He started Norwich's first game of the 2018/19 season away at Birmingham but did not impress. He was then loaned to Fleetwood on 20th August 2018 until January 2019. This was then extended until the end of the 2018/19 season.
On 26th July 2019 Husband joined Blackpool on a season long loan which will take him to the end of his contract with Norwich. He made his Blackpool debut on 3rd August 2019 against Bristol Rovers. The loan was turned into a permanent transfer on 25th January 2020. He had played 26 games for the Seasiders.
Husband and Blackpool were promoted to the Championships after beating Lincoln in the League One Play-off final on 30th May 2021. Husband then signed a new two year contract on 14th June 2021.
Husband was in the Blackpool side that lost 3-2 at home to Millwall on 28th April 2023 which meant that they were relegated from the Championship.
