A product of their
Australian academy, West Ham's young central defender Steven Laurie
played for Norwich Reserves against Wycombe in a 2-2 draw on November
27th 2001. Two weeks later, Steven was having a trial with Peterborough.
Steven had only joined West Ham in the summer of 2001. West Ham
allowed Steven to complete a move to the Posh in January 2002.
In July 2003, Peterborough and Laurie parted company by mutual
consent as they recognised his first team opportunites were limited
at London Road. He returned to Australia and joined South Melbourne.
Whilst with South Melbourne, he had a trial with Dundee United.
He moved to Hyundai A-League side Sydney United but has since
been released. Following a trial with Kilmarnock, he joined Australian
side Oakleigh Cannons. In 2008 Laurie moved to Altona Magic and
was promoted to captain in 2009 and led the club to championship
win over highly fancied Dandenong Thunder.
In 2010, he had a trial with Chinese side Shandong before joining
Bentleigh Greens.
