From the Pink Un
( Eastern Counties Newspapers),
29th August 1998, p16.
Commentating on Fakenham's Jewson Eastern Counties League match
with Warboys on 22nd August, the Pink UN reported "Fans were also
treated to a glimpse of the talents of midfielder Martyn Magee whom
the Ghosts (Fakenham) have been asked to bring on for Dr Martens
neighbours King's Lynn. A product of the Norwich City youth system,
he completed an apprenticeship with Leicester City before a brief
spell at Colchester." Martyn played for the Norwich City A team
in the Essex & Herts Border Combination in 1995.
King's Lynn's injury crisis (Damian Hilton, Glen Fuff, Leo Cotterell, David Puttnam,
Lee Gibson, Neil Miller, Worrell Sterling and Steve
Lewis) in the early part of the 1998/99 season saw Tony Spearing recall Martin from Fakenham and give him
his Linnets' debut in the 2-1 home defeat against Weymouth on 19th
September 1998.
Martyn returned to Fakenham with the arrival of Gary Mills as manager
of King's Lynn. He played primarily in the Reserves until January
1999 when he joined Dale Gordon's revolution
at Gorleston.
After Gordon's departure to join Ipswich Town, Martyn returned to
Fakenham in the summer of 2000. Three summers later, he switched
to Wroxham. However this did not last long and Martyn returned to
the Ghosts (Fakenham) in late October 2003 where he has been appointed
captain.
Martyn returned to Wroxham, along with teammate Steve
Lewis, on 12th July 2004
In May 2008, Martyn was appointed player-manager of Anglian Combination
side Sherringham
