Nicodin Matic joined Conference South side Farnborough in November
2011.Matic is a 19-year-old Croatian who recently moved over to
the UK from Australia having played for White City, Marconi Stallions,
South Coast Wolves FC and Central Coast Mariners. It was reported
that he has also trialled at Premier League Norwich City and Sheffield United.
"Matic is a good goalkeeper," Farnborough manager
Garry Haylock explained. "He was part of a party who come
over every year from Australia, we took one look at him and could
see he had quality. It's taken us two weeks to get him clearance
to play."
Nikodin Matic was selected to trial at the Nike-The Chance Regional
Trials in Sydney earlier in 2011. After impressing the Nike Scouts
he was selected to participate in the Nike-The Chance Pacific
Trials with 26 other quality athletes from Australia and New Zealand.
After yet another impressive performance at the AIS, Canberra
he was selected as one of the top 4 players from the Pacific Region.
He will represent Australia and New Zealand in England as he takes
on the finest 100 players from the globe to secure a contract
at the prestigious Nike Academy
He has also played for Australia's schoolboys team.
He joined Australian side Bonnyrigg White Eagles in January 2012.
