Swedish central
defender Jesper Mattson (30) from Halmstad played for Norwich City
reserves against Luton in a 6-0 victory on November 19th 1998. Although
Jesper had a relatively quiet evening, he rose well to head the
sixth goal. Norwich manager
Bruce Rioch
decided not to invest in signing Mattson for the Canaries. However
this did not prevent Jesper from coming to England as he signed
for Nottingham Forest in early December for £300,000. He made
his English debut for Forest in their 3-1 Premiership defeat at
Leicester on 12th December 1998.
Injuries forced Jesper to retire in 2000.
