Biography

Scottish Under-17 international goalkeeper Jon McCracken joined Norwich from Scottish side Hamilton on 11th August 2016. He was known by both Alex Neil and Michael McGovern.

After making 13 appearances for Norwich's Under-23s in 2018/19, he was expected to leave the club in July 2019 and media speculation linked him with Newcastle, Blackburn and Hibs in mid-June 2019. He then joined Burnley on trial according to the Scottish Sun and would be joining the Clarets on pre-season tour in Poland.

On 16th July 2020 it was announced tha Jon had signed a contract extension until the end of the 2020/21 season despite not playing during 2019/20.

McCracken was on the bench for Norwich in the Carabao (League) Cup first round clash at Luton on 5th September 2020 which Norwich lost 3-1. The Canaries had 15 first teamers missing due to international call-ups with a further two injured. However he was not utilised.

He signed a new contract with Norwich on 22nd December 2020 which will keep him at Carrow Road until July 2022. He signed a new contract on 4th March 2022 which will keep him at Norwich until the summer of 2024.

In July 2022 it was reported that Jon was training with Southend United ahead of a potential loan move to gain first team experience. On 22nd July 2022 he joined Irish side Bohemian on loan until 31st December 2022. McCracken is expected to provide cover for Bohs’ first-choice ‘keeper James Talbot, who has a shoulder injury. He played five times for Bohemians.

On 10th March 2023 he joined Stevenage on an emergency loan.following the early recall of Toby Savin by Accrington Stanley. He made his debut the following day in a 3-1 win over Walsall. He then kept his place for the 1-0 win over Crewe and the 0-0 draw at Carlisle.

At the beginning of July 2023 he was loaned to Scottish Premiership side Dundee. Following the departure of Tim Krul to Luton, McCracken was recalled from his loan. He had played four games for Dundee before losing his place to Trevor Carson.. McCracken was on the bench for Norwich's Carabao Cup clash at Bristol City on 29th August 2023.

On 29th September 2023 he joined Accrington Stanley on an emergency loan. He made his debut for Stanley the following day in a 3-1 home defeat to Stockport. He then extended his loan and played a total of 13 games for Stanley.

He returned to Dundee on loan on 1st February 2024 and made 11 appearances. On his return to Norwich, it was announced on 20th May 2024 that his contract would not be renewed.

He signed a two year contract with Dundee on 21st June 2024 and was given the Number 1 shirt.
