Shaquille McDonald played on trial for Norwich City's Under-21s
in their 3-1 Norfolk Senior Cup win over Fakenham on 23rd November
2013, with McDonald scoring Norwich's third goal.
McDonald was a free agent having been released by Peterborough
on 15th November 2013 by mutual consent. He had joined Peterborough
in late 2012 from non-league Chasetown and was prolific for the
clubs youth and development sides. He signed a four year
professional contract in April 2013.
He spent September 2013 on loan to Chester City, making one appearance
in which he was sent off. He was then loaned in October 2013 to
Brian Page's Histon.
After making a second appearance for Norwich's Under-18s, Shaq
signed for Nigel Worthington's York
City on 1st January 2014. He had been on trial with the Minstermen."He
showed good pace, touch and awareness. I'm pleased to get him
on board," said Worthington
He was released by York at the end of the 2013/14 season
On 1st Augist 2014, McDonald signed for Derby County on a two
year deal after a successful trial.
On 26th March 2015, he was loaned to Cheltenham until the end
of the 2014/15 season. he returned to Derby on 20th April 2015
prior to their relegation to the Conference on 25th April.
Shaq joined Halifax on loan in late November 2015. Bad weather delayed his debut until 15th December 2015 in a FA Trophy fixture against Tamworth. Shaq scored a debutant goal and went on to score one more in a further 14 appearances.
Shaq was released by Derby on 20th May 2016. He then signed for Conference North side Nuneaton on a one year contract.
He subsequently played for Coventry United, Mickleover, Bromsgrove Sporting and Tamworth
