Scott Mean had a trial for Norwich in a reserve team match against
Millwall Reserves on 16th March 1995. At the time, he was a young
starlet in Mel Machin's Bournemouth side
having partnered Jamie Redknapp in the Bournemouth midfield. Although
the Canaries were linked with Scott's signature, he eventually
joined his former manager Harry Redknapp at West Ham in the summer
of 1996. He was unable to establish a regular spot in the Hammers
midfield and only made his league debut for West Ham at the end
of the 1997/98 season. In total, he made 3 appearances for the
Hammers.

medical tests and vowing that his knee injury was behind him.
