Biography

Ignasi Miquel signed for Norwich City on Transfer Deadline Day (1st September 2014) from Arsenal for a fee reported to be around £1.5million. He signed a three year contract with Norwich.

Born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Miquel spent five years at La Masia academy before being released. Miquel transferred to UE Cornellà but it wasn't long before Miquel was playing for the club's reserve team, leading to a call up to the Spanish under 16's. A series of outstanding performances for the Spanish Youth side caught the eye of some of the world's biggest clubs. Manchester United and Valencia CF both faxed trial offers

Arsenal however made a straight cash offer without a trial and an agreement was struck. Ignasi joined the club just after his 16th birthday, making his debut in the Zinedine Zidane Tournament held in Cannes. Miquel made 12 appearances for the reserves in the 2009–10 season, becoming reserve team captain. He made his Arsenal full debut in the FA Cup tie with Leyton Orient on 20th February 2011. The following season saw him play in both the Premier League and the Champions League; the former coming against Swansea on 15th January 2013 and the latter against Olympiacos on 6th December 2012. He scored his first goal for Arsenal in the 6-1 win over Coventry in the League Cup in September 2012.

On 9 August 2013, Miquel joined Championship side Leicester City on loan until the end of the 2013–14 season. Ignasi made his debut for The Foxes on 27 August 2013 in the 5–2 away win over Carlisle United in the second-round of the League Cup. Miquel scored his first goal for the club against Fulham on 30 October 2013, in the League Cup. He played a total of 12 games for Leicester, scoring once.

Miquel played for the Spain under-19 team that won the 2011 European Championship. He was ever-present, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in every game. Miquel made his debut for the Spanish U21 team on Tuesday 5 February 2013 in the 1–1 draw against Belgium, coming on as a 57th minutes substitute for Jordi Amat

He had played 14 games for Arsenal at the time of his transfer to Norwich.

Miquel made his Norwich debut in the 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Shrewsbury on 23rd September 2014. He made just one further appearance in his inaugural season at Norwich. He was released by mutual consent on 30th July 2015 and signed for Spanish Segunda Division side SD Ponferradina.

On 1st July 2016, after Ponfe's relegation, he moved to CD Lugo also in the second division

On 7th December 2017, Miquel signed for La Liga side Malaga on a three and a half year contract. Although outside of the transfer window, Malaga were granted an emergency signing to replace left-back Juankar who was ruled out of the rest of the season with knee ligament damage. Miquel had impressed this season for CD Lugo, for whom he had joined on July 1 2016 and who were second in the second division when he was sold. They had finished ninth in the previous season (their highest ever finish).
