Biography

Tyrese Omotoye played for Norwich's Under-18s during the 2017/18 season, making his debut as a substitute against Fulham on 25th November 2017. He is a Belgian midfielder who was previously at Cray Wanderers and joined Norwich aged 12. He was called up to Belgium's Under-16s in November 2017.

He made 19 competitive appearances for the Under 18s in 2018/19, scoring three and assisting two goals.

He signed a scholarship contract with Norwich on 19th July 2019.

He signed his first professional contract with Norwich n 17th October 2019. He said “I feel like I’ve earned it. Everyday you’ve got to work hard for your place in the squad, so I’m very happy knowing that my hard work has paid off and is being shown. Making it into the U18s line-ups is just the start, I want to progress through to the U23s, and then make it into the first-team. That’s my main goal, above all else. Right now, I’m really focusing on improving every day so I can be the best player possible. I’m motivated by the thought of getting into that first-team squad.”

Tyrese hit the headlines on October 6th 2020 when he scored a hat-trick for Norwich's Under-23s as they defeated Newport County 5-0 in the EFL Trophy.

Norwich's injury crisis in November 2020 saw Tyrese on the bench for Norwich's clash with Coventry City on 28th November 2020. He made his debut as a late substitute in the 3-1 defeat to Luton on 2nd December 2020.

Omotoye signed a new contract with Norwich on 22nd December 2020 which will extend his stay at Carrow Road to the summer of 2024. He had made three appearances at the time of his signing. He said "The club is a really, really good place to develop. There's very friendly staff, everyone is really helpful, it's a place I love very much. I couldn't ask for a better place to develop, Norfolk is a very quiet place for me to put my head down and focus, so in terms of that, it's perfect for me."

He was loaned to Swindon Town on 25th January 2021 for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. Unfortunately Swindon were relegated to League Two on 24th April 2021. Omotoye had made seven appearances for the Robins, six of which were as substitute.

On 31st July 2021 he trialled with Leyton Orient playing and scoring in a friendly against Gillingham. Orient boss KennyJackett wouldn't confirm the trialist forward's identity but did speak about the trial spell after the match, with Omotoye capping a wonderful team goal when he prodded in from close range, having looped a header just wide earlier in the game. "We've been impressed with him since he's been here, he's done very well," Omotoye's loan to Orient was confirmed on 17th August 2021. he made his Orient debut in the 2-0 home defeat to Harrogate in League Two on 24th August 2021.

He spent most of his time on the bench at Orient, making just one start in League Two and failed to score in eight appearances. On 5th January 2022 his loan was ended and he was loaned out to Carlisle United instead. Cumbrians boss Keith Millen told his club's website: “He’s a player we’ve watched and Norwich think a lot of him as a person and as a footballer. They loaned him to Orient for the first part of this season, but he probably didn’t get enough game time. Orient have a strong squad, they’re doing well, so that’s understandable, but he’s at a stage of his career where he wants to be playing in a competitive environment. Norwich want that for him as well, because they think he has real potential. We’ve been lucky, in my opinion, that we’ve been able to speak to him to progress this. When I met him I could tell straight away that he’s really hungry to be part of what we want to do, and that matters. He wants to come here and show everybody what he's about, and he’s the profile of the type of player we’re looking for. He’s quick, a good size, athletic, and he likes to run with the ball and get on the end of chances. He ticks a lot of the boxes we want ticked, which is good for us, because we know we need to freshen up our attacking options. We’ve known that and we’ve talked about it ever since I got here."

He made his debut on 8th January 2022 in the 2-0 win over Bradford in League Two.

He spent the first half of the 2022/23 season playing for Norwich's development squad but on 23rd January 2023 he was sold to Forest Green Rovers. Forest Green were relegated to League Two on 15th April 2023 following a 5-1 home defeat to Barnsley which saw them left 12 points adrift of safety with four games remaining and a -51 goal difference. A second relegation followed on 16th April 2024 despite Omotoye playing 41 games and scoring five goals.
