Callam Packard was an Associate Schoolboy with Norwich in 1998/99.
After leaving Norwich several clubs showed an interest in him,
but he decided to stay at school, firstly to complete his GCSE's.
He returned to his native Hertfordshire (he was born in Welwyn
Garden City) and played for his local club Welwyn Garden City.
He then was approached to play for Hertford Town, which he played
for a season, having several more non league clubs wanting to sign
him, but he then took a year out from playing football to concentrate
on his A levels.
After achieving good A level grades he turned out for Unison
(University of Hertfordshire Branch) in the Welwyn Hatfield Sunday
Football League Division One when health problems allowed him
to. In September 2002 he went to university with the intention
of playing football at a semi professional level again, but on
the first day at university he was taken seriously ill, which
left him in hospital for nearly 4 months, he is now better and
hoping to get the all clear soon.
He is hoping to return to university and football in September
2003.
