Former Millwall youth team player Dexter Peter played for Norwich's Under21s in a 2-1 defeat to Fulham on 20th March 2015. He had been released by the Lions the previous month.

He then spent time with non-league Merstham and Chelmsford City before joining Colchester United's academy in June 2016. He made his Colchester debut in the EFL Trophy against Crawley in August 2016 but made no further appearances and was released in May 2017.

He then joined Concord Rangers (National League North) before moving on to Maldon & Tiptree, Thurrock, Coggeshall Town, Grays Athletic and Hullbridge Sports. He moved on to Tilbury in November 2021 but left for Wingate & Finchley the following month. He joined Bowers & Pitsea for the 2022/23 season, making 43 appearances. He then moved to Haringey Borough in June 2023.

He later played for Saffron Walden Town before signing for Bowers and Pitsea of the Isthmian League on 6th August 2024.
