After playing in
a couple of trial games for the Canaries during the beginning of
2005, former West Ham schoolboy Alvin Quaye was offered a scholarship
with the Canaries in March 2005. He had not been offered a scholarship
by The Hammers. He however done enough to impress the coaching staff
at Colney and joined Norwich's Academy on a full time basis at the
start of the 2005/6 season. Alvin will now join Bally
Smart, Patrick Bexfield, Seb
Muddel, Chris Martin and Michael
Spillane as first year scholars.
His first season at Carrow Road started well but he suffered a double
break to his left leg in the autumn of 2005 when playing against
West Ham's Under-18s.
Alvin had a trial with Leyton Orient in May 2007, playing in a friendly
against a Sierre Leone XI, as he had not been awarded a professional
contract with the Canaries at the end of his scholarship.
He moved to the USA, taking up a soccer sholarship with Nova Southeastern
University for whom
Matthew Parry coaches.
