On 5th July 2017, Norwich made their fifth signing of the 2017 summer transfer window when they signed Southampton's former England Under-20 midfielder Harrison Reed on a season long loan.
Reed has come through the famed Saints academy and has made 17 Premier League appearances for the south coast club since breaking into the first team picture in August 2013. His first team debut was against Barnsley on 27th August 2013 in the League Cup with his league debut coming on 7th December 2013 against Leicester.
Head coach Daniel Farke said: “Harrison is a young and talented player with lots of potential. He is technically very good with the ball and fits my idea of football. We will look to develop and improve him, so I’m looking forward to us working together.”
Reed signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Saints last December and vice-chairman (football) Les Reed is keen for the former England Under-20 international to get regular game time.
He made his Norwich debut in the 1-1 draw away to Fulham on the opening day of the 2017/18 season (5th August 2017). He scored his first Norwich goal in the 2-0 win over QPR on 16th August 2017. He made a total of 43 appearances during his loan spell
On 23rd August 2018, he was linked with another loan move, this time to Blackburn after he had not featured in any of Southampton's match-day squads.. This became reality on 27th August 2018.
On 8th August 2019 he joined Fulham on a season long loan along with Cardiff's Bobby Reid. Read made 28 appearances as Fulham won promotion to the Premier League defeating Brentford 2-1 in the play-off finals on 4th August 2020 (with Read playing in the final). He returned to Fulham on 30th August 2020 signing a deal until 2024 for an undisclosed fee. Fellow Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina also made the move to Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers were relegated from the Premier League on 10th May 2021 following a 2-0 home defeat to Burnley. He had made 32 appearances for Fulham.
Reed made 42 appearances the following season as Fulham won the Championship title.
At the end of August 2023, he was linked with a move to Wolves by Sky Sports News and other media sources.
