Kieran Scott joined Norwich as Head of Domestic Scouting Operations on 31st May 2017 after weeks of speculation. He had worked with Norwich's Sporting Director Stuart Webber at Wolves. His most recent role was being part of Sean Dyche's scouting team at Burnley.. His role will include recruitment to the Academy.
On 18th June 2021 he was strongly linked with a proposed Sporting Director role at Middlesbrough according to The Sun. Scott had spoken of his desire for such a role in the future. "In the short term, I definitely want to get back to the Premier League and have another go at doing the recruitment for the Premier League, hopefully with a bit more of a budget and say in what we do. Mid to long term, I want to progress into the sporting director role and that's something I've spoken to Stuart (Webber) about at length. Stuart has been excellent and really supportive. He's always on the phone and talking to me about things and trying to educate me as we go on the job. It's definitely an area that I want to progress into. In football you never know, it could be next week or another five years. It's forever changing. It's something I want to do and an ambition I want to push towards."
The move to Boro was confirmed on 2nd August 2021 with Scott to take up the Sporting Director role at the end of August 2021.
On 25th June 2022 Scott was reported to be on Manchester United's radar as they look to revamp their recruitment department. Sky Sports said “Middlesbrough head of football Kieran Scott and Brentford head of recruitment Lee Dykes are two names under consideration for a permanent recruitment role working with John Murtough at Manchester United.”
