Robert Smith who was an Academy Scholar in 1998/99 (playing 23
games) joined Dr Martens League side Baldock Town according to
the December 1999 edition of Team Talk. In the early part
of the 2000/1 season, Robert's form was interesting Luton Town
but this has appeared to drop off following the dismissal of Ricky
Hill. Robert moved to St Albans in July 2001. Despite interest
from Canvey Island, Rob signed a new contract with St Albans in
May 2002.
Suffering from horrendous injury problems, Robert was only able
to make 71 appearances in three and a half years with the Saints.
As such, he was, along with Adam Parker and Dean Hooper, released
by new manager Colin Lippiatt on Saturday 11th December 2004.
