Braintree born left back Adam Stuart was released from his contract
in his second year as a Canary trainee in September 1997. He was
due to have trials with both Scunthorpe and Southend.
After playing for Halstead Town, Adam worked for Premdor in Sible
Hedingham. He was also on call for Hedingham and Halstead fire
station, which he loved. It was while answering calls to the station,
and riding his bike, that Mr Stuart first realised something was
wrong with waking up in a panic and losing his balance. Medical
tests revealed a brain tumour in June 2002 which eventually claimed
his life in January 2009 aged 29.
