Lee Summerscales joined Fakenham from Norwich's youth academy
in April 2001 aged 16, although he was seeking a professional
contract. He has already had experience of playing abroad from
when his father was stationed with the RAF in Germany.
Lee joined the Easton College academy side and won a call-up into
not only the county sides but also the England Under 18 schoolboy
side that travelled to the USA in February 2002. His form saw
him play again for Norwich's academy and reserves during 2001/02
and 2002/03
During the early part of 2003, Lee trained with Cambridge United
and played for their Reserves against Bournemouth on 7th April 2003.
He also trained and trialled with Cambridge throughout the summer
of 2003, for example playing in their friendly match against Kings
Lynn in mid July. He impressed the Us and he signed for them in
the summer of 2003.
Cambridge allowed Lee to play for non-leaguers Mildenhall on
a non-contract basis when United didn't need him on Saturdays.
He also appeared for Cambridge City during November 2003 and signed
for them until the end of the 2003/04 season. A second one-year
contract was signed in May 2004. He also works for Cambridge City
as their Football in the Community officer in the Peterborough
area.
Released by Cambridge City in June 2005, Lee trained with neighbours
Histon during the 2005/6 pre-season before signing permanently
at the dawn of the 2005/6 season. This did not last long and by
the beginning of September 2005, Lee was playing for Chelmsford
City. He didn't stay there for long as by early October, he was
playing in the Ridgeons League with Mildenhall.
At the end of May 2006, Lee transferred to Bury Twon, newly promoted
to the Ryman League
