Former Norwich City reserve defender Richard Sutton, who was
initially an apprentice with Peterborough (and made one league
appearance for the Posh) never made it into the Norwich City first
team. He was last seen at Dagenham in 1986 where a knee injury
ended his career. He opened his own Sports Retail business based
in Kent
Richard found found over the years the retail environment was
changing and he was losing trade. He told the EDP: In Kent,
bigger stores and warehouses were coming into the area, which
ultimately meant we were getting pushed to the sidelines and losing
trade, so I decided to use the internet as a tool for the business.
That meant Sutton was able to move back to Norfolk to run his
company. He said: Now we are going from strength to strength
and growing rapidly and have orders nationally and from abroad.
Mr Sutton's website, www.prosports.com, offers customers the
chance to browse products connected to a wide range of sports
including basketball, netball, squash and snooker, something he
says would have been very hard to do within the confines of a
shop building.
