Oldham Athletic signed Jordan Tait from Newcastle on 18th August
1999. Prior to this transfer, Jordan was seeking a new club and
played for Norwich's Under 21s in a friendly against Bristol City
on 21st April 1999. In October 2000, Jordan joined Darlington
but he was freed at the end of the 2000/01 season. Statistics
show that he made just 1 appearance for Oldham and only 3 for
Darlington.
Jordan joined Scottish minnows Arbroath at the end of September
2001. He switched to Ross County during January 2003. A year later
and Jordan was released by County. He joined the "honest
men" of Ayr United. At the end of July 2004, Jordan moved
again joining St Johnstone. He made 14 appearances for St Johnstone
before joining Berwick Rangers in June 2005. Within a month, he
had quit the Scottish Division Three club to take up a position
as a fitness coach. By December 2005, Jordan had signed for Stenhousemuir. He then played for Arthurlie before retiring in 2007.
Working and learning under managers/ coaches such as Kevin Keegan, Sir Kenny Dalglish, Rudd Gullit, John Carver, Alan Irvine and Tommy Burns, Tait began coaching while still playing and studied for his UEFA coaching qualifications gaining the UEFA A Licence, UEFA Elite Youth A Licence and the FA Advanced Youth Award as well as qualifications in Sport Science, Psychology and Talent Identification. Following retirement through injury he moved into full-time coaching and became a development phase lead coach at Middlesbrough.
He later coached at St Mirren and PS Kemi Kings in Finland as well as work with the Scottish and Irish Football Associations
In May 2023 he joined the Boston Bolts as MLS Next Head Coach and Talent ID Co-ordinator. He will oversee the club’s talent identification process and operate as part of the club's Technical Leadership Team for the 2023/24 season.
