Biography

17 year old left-sided defender Matthew Watts joined Norwich City's academy as a second year scholar at the end of June 2003 following a successful trial. Matthew has played for the England international schools FA team and was previously studying for a sports degree at Ardingley College in Sussex. He played primarily on the left wing for the college although he has played as centre forward, winning the Pele award for most skillful player.

Prior to joining Ardingley, Matthew was a youth team player for Charlton Athletic and later played for non-leaguers Redhill during the 2001/02 season. He also had trials with Brighton and Cambridge before joining the Canaries.

Norwich released Matthew in the summer of 2004, he returned to Sussex, joining Horsham on 17th August 2004. In February 2005, I discovered that Matthew had accepted a football scholarship with a college in Onetona in New York state in the USA. He later played for the University of Mobile.
