Former Ipswich Town striker Trevor Whymark coached Norwich's
Under 13s in 1999/2000. He then performed a similar role with
Ipswich's Under-12s.
Whymark began his career in the Anglian Combination League with Diss Town and was signed by Bobby Robson for Ipswich in 1969, going on to make 335 appearances, scoring 104 goals for the Blues. Whilst at Ipswich he had a loan spell at Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam.
He left Portman Road in 1979 to join Derby and also played for Vancouver Whitecaps, Grimsby, Southend, Peterborough and Colchester United. After retiring from the professional game, he had a year as player-manager at Diss
He played seven times for England Under-23s and once for the full national team against Luxembourg in 1977.
In January 2009, it was reported that he would teach at University
Campus Suffolk in Lowestoft.
It was reported on 31st October 2024 that Whymark had passed away. In April 2023 his family had reported that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
