Dutch winger Yanic Wildschut joined Norwich on 31st January 2017 from Wigan for a fee reported to be £7million, funded by the sale of Robbie Brady to Burnley.
As a youth, he played for Sporting Noord, DWV and TOB before joining Ajax. He was released by the Amsterdam giants in the summer of 2010 and joined FC Zwolle, then in the Dutch second division. he made his debut against MVV and went to finish the 2010/11 campaign with five goals in 38 appearances.
On 28th June 2011, he transferred to VVV Venlo. He played 33 games in his inaugural season, scoring four goals. He began to attract attention from other clubs including AZ Alkamaar and Salzburg but stayed for a second season, making 35 appearances scoring once.
He moved to SC Heerenveen on 24th June 2013 but struggled with injury and was loaned to ADO Den Haag in January 2014 for whom he made seven appearances.
He trasnferred to Middlesbrough on 1st September 2014 and made his debut for Boro against Charlton in a 0-0 draw on 27th September 2014. He made 13 appearances that season for Boro. Diromg 2015/16 he was loaned to Wigan on 2nd October 2015. This was turned into a permanent £1million deal on 12th January 2016 and he helped the Latics to promotion to the Championship, being named in the PFA League One team of the Year.
He had made 46 appearances for Wigan, scoring 10 goals at the time of his transfer to Carrow Road
He made his Norwich debut in the 1-0 away win at Cardiff on 4th February 2017. He made a total of 9 appearances for City in 2016/17, scoring once.
On 12th January 2018, Yanic was loaned to Cardiff City for the remainder of the season. He had scored once in 20 appearances in 2017/18. Cardiff manager Neil Warnock said "It's somebody I have liked for a long time. I actually tried to buy him before Norwich bought him," He helped Cardiff win promotion to the Premier League, making 10 appearances for the Bluebirds.
On 19th July 2018, he joined Bolton Wanderers on a season long loan. On 19th April 2019, Bolton were relegated from the Championship following a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa. It was their 14th defeat in 18 games.
Wildschutt was released by Norwich on 21st May 2019.
On 7th July 2019, he signed a two year deal with Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.
He moved to Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia on 27th June 2021 after playing in 17 league games for Maccabi Haifa during 2020/21. Wildschut's new side had finished third in the Parva Liga the previous season. He made 28 appearances for CSKA.
He has been capped 10 times by Holland at Under-21 level. He won his first cap for Surinam on 27th March 2022 in a 1-0 loss to Thailand in a Friendly.
On 22nd July 2022 Yanic returned to England, signing a two year contract with Oxford United for an undisclosed fee. Manager Karl Robinson said "He is very quick and also very powerful, He is one of those players who excites fans when he gets the ball - we moved quickly to bring him in."
On 15th September 2023 he signed for Exeter City on a short-term deal until January 2024, having left Oxford at the end of August 2023. He re-unites with manager Gary Caldwell who signed him at Wigan.
