On 23rd August 2021 Brandon Williams joined Norwich on a season long loan from Manchester United. The 20 year old defender can play at either left-back or right-back, providing valuable cover.
Born in Manchester, Brandon progressed through Manchester United's academy to make his debut on 25th September 2019 as a substitute in the League Cup against Rochdale. His first start came on 3rd October 2019 in the UEFA Europa League against AZ Alkmaar. His Premier League debut came 17 days later against Liverpool as a late substitute with his first league start coming on 10th November 2019 against Brighton. His first goal came on 24th November against Sheffield United.
At the time of his loan to Norwich, he had played 50 games for United, predominantly in cup tournaments.
He made his England Under-20 debut against the Netherlands on 5th September 2019. His Under-21 debut was against Andorra on 7th October 2020.
His Norwich debut was on 24th August 2021 starting at left-back in the 6-0 thrashing of Bournemouth in the League Cup. He made 29 appearances in 2021/22 as Norwich finished bottom of the Premier League.
On 23rd July 2022 it was reported that £15m rated Williams was a target for Brighton if they sold Marc Cucurella to Manchester City for £50m.
On 24th August 2023 he joined Ipswich Town on a season long loan, reuniting with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, who he worked under previously at Old Trafford. "He's someone I've known since a very young age," said McKenna. "I've seen his journey and how hard he's worked to get to where he's got to. He's still very young and has a large amount of experience for a 22-year-old, but is coming off a season where he hasn't played many minutes and has had some bad luck with injuries."
Brandon made 17 appearances for Ipswich, the last on 29th December 2023 before injuries curtailed him career. Ipswich did win promotion whilst Williams was banned from driving on 3rd May 2024 after accumulating 30 points on his license. It was then reported that he would be released by United in the summer of 2024 when his contract expires. This was confirmed in early June 2024. In response to the club releasing him Williams shared an emotional video with Adele's Hometown Glory as the soundtrack. And in the caption, the full-back wrote: " I always hoped I would have never had to make this post but here we are. Since the age of 7, this Manchester United football club has been part of my life from the cliff to Carrington day in and day out. But to have been able to make brothers which will last a lifetime I want to thank my teammates, especially the ones I’ve shared the past 17 years with. Thank you to the staff the kitmen, maintenance workers, security, and physios I could go on and on you were all amazing and of course the coaches.
