Alan Wood was appointed Norwich's new Chief Scout on May 17th
2001, replacing Canary legend Duncan Forbes.
Alan played for Bristol City and Hereford before injury cut his
career short. He managed non-leaguers Cheltenham and Bromsgrove
before returning to Hereford as coach. He later joined Exeter
as a Chief Scout and then followed Terry Cooper to Bristol City
and Birmingham performing the same role. Mike
Walker took Alan with him to Everton as a match assessor and
then signed him again in that role when Walker returned to Norwich.
5 years of assessing matches and scouting, he was promoted to
Chief Scout.
As part of Glenn Roeder's shakeup of Norwich's backroom functions,
City parted company with Wood on 23rd May 2008, with Bryan
Gunn taking on the role of Head of Player Recruitment.
