Andy Wright, a 21-year-old winger, started his career with Leeds,
was loaned out to Reading in 1998/99 before joining Dutch club
Fortuna Sittard. Along with Hasney Aljofree,
Andy played a trial game for Norwich Reserves against Swindon
Reserves in the Avon Insurance Combination League on 9th February
2000. Andy opened the scoring on 10 minutes before goals from
Anselin, Joynson
and Aljofree completed the 4-0 rout. Although it would cost Bruce
Rioch nothing to sign Andy, he decided that Andy needed to
gain more match fitness if he was to consider adding him to the
Carrow Road ranks. Andy moved on to Luton Town on 11th February
2000 for a trial with the Division Two side.
The Football Transfers
website reported in April 2000 that Andy was having a trial
with Norwich's rivals Ipswich Town. At the end of July 2000, Andy
was training with Carlisle Utd who seemed keen to sign him after
he impressed in a friendly against St Johnstone.
After training with Doncaster in the 2001 close season, Andy joined
Harrogate of the Northern League. He moved on to Scarborough in
the spring of 2002 but was released the following September. He
joined Droylsden of the Unibond Northern League in October 2002.
He later played for Wakefield-Emley before joining Stocksbridge
Park Steels at the beginning of February 2006. The following month,
he joined Worksop Town. After a spell with Stocksbridge Park Steels,
Andy returned to Worksop in the summer of 2007. He moved to Leigh
RMI in December 2007
Since the relegation of Leigh RMI at the close of season 2007/08,
Andy signed for Blyth Spartans to remain playing in the Conference
North.
He joined Alnwick Town in January 2017 from Allotment FCN
