international Johnny Wright was released by Norwich in June 1997
and has had a trial with former manager
John
Deehan at Wigan Athletic. A former City trainee, Johnny made
his first team debut against Aston Villa in October 1994 as substitute
for the injured
Carl Bradshaw. His full debut came the following week
against Queen's Park Rangers but the 4-2 victory was marred a hamstring
injury after just 20 minutes. This was his final appearance for
the season. He managed just one game the following year and only
four in 1996/97. His position at right back being occupied by Carl
Bradshaw and
Daryl Sutch.
At the end of September 1997, it was announced that Johnny had joined
local Jewson Eastern Counties League side
Wroxham . He has since returned to his homeland to play for
Glenavon for whom he made 19 appearances since his transfer there
in November 1997. He joined Ards in August 1998 but returned to
Glenavon in 2000/01.
